Kathy Steil is the Vice President of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.  Kathy has more than twenty years experience in administration and fundraising in Cheyenne. The landscape of southeastern Wyoming reminds Kathy of her western Oklahoma roots.  A graduate of Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in education, she taught Vocational Home Economics in Oklahoma and Colorado.  After discovering Wyoming, Kathy trained with Paul Smith of the Hitching Post Inn learning about the value of promoting Cheyenne and the state of Wyoming, as well as, event planning and public relations.

She used these skills as a staff member of the Cheyenne Regional Medical Center Foundation for over eighteen years.  During that time, she helped the hospital’s annual Denim ‘N Diamonds Campaign proceeds grow from $7,500 to a phenomenal $301,000.  Serving twice as the Interim Executive Director and most recently as the Director of Annual Giving, Kathy worked through the years to build the annual Foundation donations to an impressive $1,200,000.

Kathy, a graduate of Leadership Cheyenne and former chair of the Steering Committee, is an active member of the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club, W-HEELS, the Dazee Bristol Society, and the Old West Museum. She and her husband John Steil share five adult children and their families, including eight grandchildren.  They both selected Cheyenne as their home and are committed to the growth and development of Cheyenne and Laramie County.
