ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Economic development is at the heart of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber's mission. We collaborate with local chambers and businesses across the state to advocate for initiatives and policies that foster a thriving economic landscape. By working together, we strive to create opportunities that drive growth, attract investment, and ensure the continued success of the greater Cheyenne area. Our efforts are focused on building a strong foundation for the future, supporting a dynamic economy that benefits businesses and communities alike.

Infrastructure Development

Growth starts with infrastructure.

Infrastructure is the backbone of economic development, laying the groundwork for business growth and community success.

Roads, utilities, broadband, and transportation systems connect people to jobs, goods to markets, and communities to opportunity. Strategic investment in infrastructure attracts businesses, supports workforce mobility, and sparks innovation.

Simply put: when infrastructure grows, so does the economy.

Permit Wyoming to Build: The future of Wyoming’s infrastructure depends on one thing - modernizing our permitting process.

Amtrak Light Rail:  Investment in passenger rail service can be a catalyst for economic development and prosperity across America. â€‹

Sentinel

Our nation's defense and economy.

Cheyenne is GBSD-bound, positioning our community at the forefront of national defense and economic opportunity.

The Sentinel program represents a long-term investment in infrastructure, workforce, and innovation. As this next-generation system comes online, it brings with it high-paying jobs, construction projects, and expanded support industries.

This isn’t just a military mission—it’s a catalyst for growth in Cheyenne and beyond.

2023 Housing Study

In partnership with Laramie County Community College and Cheyenne REALTORS.

The Center for Business and Economic Analysis at LCCC was contacted by the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce to conduct a study on affordable housing.

The chamber wanted an estimation on the need for housing during the next five years along with consideration for additional housing from employees coming to the area for the Sentinel Project.

The Sentinel Project is a missile system replacement project. It involves infrastructure projects both on and off F.E. Warren Air Force Base and requires additional on-base operations personnel to oversee the replacement. The entire project is estimated to take 10 years and bring in 3,515 direct positions and 4,006 indirect positions (Sentinel EIS).

Those positions and their impact on the housing market are discussed more in-depth in the Housing Demand section of this report.
