Support the University of Wyoming – Oppose Proposed Budget Cuts

The Wyoming Chamber of Commerce calls on all Wyomingites, business leaders, and community members across our state to stand with the University of Wyoming. The legislature’s proposed cuts are not just a reduction in the budget line, they are a threat to the future of our state, our communities, and our children. The University of Wyoming is a cornerstone of Wyoming’s economy, generating over $720 million in gross state product and supporting nearly 14,700 jobs. Its groundbreaking research alone contributes more than $230 million to our economy, representing nearly two percent of Wyoming’s GDP. These numbers are not abstract, they translate directly into businesses that thrive, families that prosper, and communities that grow stronger.

The University of Wyoming is critical to Wyoming’s workforce and the future of our state. It trains the professionals, innovators, and leaders we need here in Wyoming, providing students with the skills and education to stay, live, and build their careers here. Citizens with college degrees earn more, access better healthcare, and are far more likely to remain in Wyoming, contributing to our economy and communities. Cutting The University of Wyoming's funding threatens our ability to attract and retain educated individuals, weakening the talent pipeline that businesses and communities rely on. The University of Wyoming ensures that opportunity, innovation, and a strong workforce remain here.

Beyond workforce development, The University of Wyoming is an essential partner for Wyoming’s businesses and communities.
