- Cheyenne Crowns 2026 National Civics Bee Regional Champion
The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce hosted the 2026 National Civics Bee Regional Competition on Friday, April 24 at the Laramie County Library — and the Cheyenne community came out to show their support. Parents, grandparents, and even an entire class of students packed the room to cheer on their competitors, creating an energy that made the afternoon truly special. Audience members could even participate themselves through a QR code that let them test their own civics knowledge alongside the competitors — a feature that kept everyone engaged and connected to the competition. After a competitive afternoon of civics knowledge and community engagement questions, Avalynn F. took first place and Miles G. came in 2nd. Both Avalynn and Miles will advance to represent Cheyenne at the State Competition! The National Civics Bee, presented by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, challenges middle school students across all 50 states to demonstrate their knowledge of civics and their commitment to their communities. Congratulations to both competitors — Cheyenne is proud of you! 🎉 Learn more about the National Civics Bee at nationalcivicsbee.org.
- Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Chamber Foundation Partner to Bring the 2026 National Civics Bee® to Cheyenne, WY
Cheyenne, WY – The Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to bring the National Civics Bee to Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the 2025-2026 program year. This annual initiative – now expanding to all 50 states in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary in 2026 – invites middle school students to showcase their civics knowledge, engage in their communities, and build trust in others and institutions through a nonpartisan, multi-round competition. This year, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber will be hosting two local students to compete on April 24, 2026, at the Laramie County Library. The National Civics Bee begins with a written essay and culminates in live events at the regional, state, and national levels. Finalists who advance to the National Championship in Washington, D.C., will compete for cash prizes, national recognition, and a $100,000 529 education savings plan contribution. Thanks to the generous support of the Fisher Global Foundation, the first-place winner in each state may also secure a $5,000 donation for their school. “As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, we have a powerful opportunity – and responsibility – to reignite civic learning across the country. Our hope is that the National Civics Bee inspires more schools to prioritize civics education, equipping young people with a deeper understanding of how our government and democracy work – and the essential role they play in strengthening their communities and our nation,” said Hilary Crow, vice president of civics at the U.S. Chamber Foundation. - Support the University of Wyoming – Oppose Proposed Budget Cuts
The Wyoming Chamber of Commerce calls on all Wyomingites, business leaders, and community members across our state to stand with the University of Wyoming. The legislature’s proposed cuts are not just a reduction in the budget line, they are a threat to the future of our state, our communities, and our children. The University of Wyoming is a cornerstone of Wyoming’s economy, generating over $720 million in gross state product and supporting nearly 14,700 jobs. Its groundbreaking research alone contributes more than $230 million to our economy, representing nearly two percent of Wyoming’s GDP. These numbers are not abstract, they translate directly into businesses that thrive, families that prosper, and communities that grow stronger. The University of Wyoming is critical to Wyoming’s workforce and the future of our state. It trains the professionals, innovators, and leaders we need here in Wyoming, providing students with the skills and education to stay, live, and build their careers here. Citizens with college degrees earn more, access better healthcare, and are far more likely to remain in Wyoming, contributing to our economy and communities. Cutting The University of Wyoming's funding threatens our ability to attract and retain educated individuals, weakening the talent pipeline that businesses and communities rely on. The University of Wyoming ensures that opportunity, innovation, and a strong workforce remain here. Beyond workforce development, The University of Wyoming is an essential partner for Wyoming’s businesses and communities. Through research, entrepreneurship programs, and community engagement, the university drives innovation, supports local businesses, and helps the state adapt to new challenges and opportunities. Deep cuts would not only undermine the university’s ability to operate at a high level, they would weaken the foundation of Wyoming’s economic growth and long-term prosperity. Now is the time for bold action. We call on the Wyoming Legislature to recognize the true value of the University of Wyoming and fund it at a level that reflects its importance to our state, our economy, and our children’s future. A strong, well-supported University of Wyoming is a strong Wyoming. This is about more than a budget, it is about vision, leadership, and the courage to invest in the future of every Wyomingite.
